BS 22. Kintamani, Besakih & Uluwatu Tours

The tour is a perfect introduction to Bali's fascinating culture and country side, first stop the mysterious Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave), which dates back to the 11 th century, hewn out of the rocks, the cave entrance is fantastically carved and depicts entangled leaves, animals, ocean waves and demonic human shapes.

Your route takes you further inland through terraced rice field and up into the mountains, where the vegetation changes from small rice and vegetable plots to bamboo forests clove and citrus fruit trees. There will also be a visit to local village enroute during the day.

On arrival at Kintamani, enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Batur, with ribbons of black lava running down from its peak in the valley below. The crater is holy and a sanctuary at the top is dedicated to the fertility goddess. Next to Mt. Batur, Lake Batur shimmers like a sheet of blue glass – a wonderful photographic opportunity.

A stop is made for lunch at Kintamani at one of restaurant which serve Indonesian Buffet.

Continue up into the mountains, Besakih Temple, almost 1.000 m above sea level. Besakih is ‘Mother Temple' of Bali probably originated as a prehistoric sanctuary where offerings were made to the god of Mount Agung. The complex houses 30 temples made up to 7 levels of terraces in the mountainside. Stopping to admire the view from Bukit Jambul over rice terraces with the sea glistening in the distance.

Last stop is visiting the southern cliff's of Bali. Rocky precipice drop almost 100 meters to the ocean. The famous small temple of Pura Luhur Uluwatu balances picturesquely on the cliff's edge. Dating from the 10 th century. It is one of the six temples of the world revered by all Balinese.
