BS 04. Balinese Hindu Temple Tours

The tour is a perfect introduction to Bali's fascinating culture and country side, first stop the mysterious Goa Gajah ( Elephant Cave ), which dates back to the 11 th century, Hewn out of the rocks, the cave entrance is fantastically carved and depicts entangled leaves, animals, ocean waves and demonic human shapes.

Continue to Tampak Siring Temples with Holly Spring Water in the temple. The waters are bilived to have magic curative powers. this temple was built aroung A.D 962. On the hill above the sacred spring is the President Palace built in 1954.

On arrival at Kintamani , enjoy spectacular views of Mt.Batur , with ribbons of black lava running down from its peak in the valley below. The crater is holy and a sanctuary at the top is dedicated to the fertility goddess. Next to Mt.Batur , Lake Batur shimmers like a sheet of blue glass – a wonderful photographic opportunity. Here we will visit Batur Temple.

A stop is made for lunch at Kintamani.

Continue up into the mountains, Besakih Temple , almost 1.000 m above sea level. Besakih is ‘ Mother Temple ' of Bali probably originated as a prehistoric sanctuary where offerings were made to the god of Mount Agung . The complex houses 30 temples made up to 7 levels of terraces in the mountainside. stopping to admire the view from Bukit Jambul over rice terraces with the sea glistening in the distance.

Last visit Goa Lawah ( Bat Cave ) Temple whose walls literally vibrate with thousands of bat - their bodies packed so close together that the upper surface of the cave resembles undalating mud. The cave is said to extend all the way back to Besakih Temple. Close to This temple we can the traditional salt maker and fisherman village of Kusamba Beach.
